Armi Marquez-Perez

Amadeo (Armi) Marquez-Perez is a passionate storyteller driven to showcase high-quality stories to audiences. Armi is especially committed to promoting the stories of diverse communities. He produced the acclaimed independent films THE FLOOD and MIRO (both nominated for AACTA awards) and has over 20 years of experience as a local and international producer working on a wide range of projects, including corporate, community development, and social engagement. Armi has also produced various short and feature documentaries, including Little Town, Big Voices and his feature documentary Life Without Barriers – A Brief Story (2017–18).

Armi taught Screenwriting and Genre Studies at RMIT University, Melbourne, for two years, and his advocacy work has left a legacy of legal, cultural, gender, and identity reform. Armi has curated film festivals and has also been a guest judge and programmer for festivals such as Sitges, Melbourne Queer, and Shanghai International. He is well-versed in the world of film. Alongside the slate of films he has produced—most recently THE FLOOD, nominated for an AACTA award—his work with marginalized, underrepresented, and disempowered communities and individuals continues to compound his profound societal impact.

Armi is currently the lead producer at Wagtail Films, collaborating with writer, director, and producer Victoria Wharfe McIntyre.
